Without effective cooling, these components\u2014which are in direct contact with high-temperature zones\u2014would rapidly deteriorate, compromising equipment safety and production continuity. The cooling system is therefore essential for stable EAF operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The primary EAF components requiring cooling are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1. Electrodes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Operating temperature:<\/strong>\u00a0As the direct medium for arc discharge, electrode tip temperatures can exceed 3,000\u00b0C.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cooling method:<\/strong>\u00a0Forced cooling via water-cooled copper sleeves\/clamps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose:<\/strong>\u00a0Prevents electrode melting, oxidation, or deformation; ensures stable arc discharge; extends electrode service life and reduces consumption (industry average: approx. 2.1 kg\/t steel).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. Furnace Shell Sidewalls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Operating temperature:<\/strong>\u00a0Direct contact with molten steel and slag at temperatures exceeding 1,600\u00b0C.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cooling method:<\/strong>\u00a0Modern EAFs commonly use water-cooled panels or spray cooling systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose:<\/strong>\u00a0Prevents shell overheating, distortion, or burn-through; promotes\u00a0<strong>slag coating (freeze-lining)<\/strong>\u00a0on the inner wall to protect refractory lining; improves thermal efficiency by reducing heat loss.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. Furnace Roof (Cover)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Operating temperature:<\/strong>\u00a0Subject to intense arc radiation and high-temperature off\u2011gas at approx. 1,200\u00b0C.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cooling method:<\/strong>\u00a0Typically designed as a water-cooled steel structure with internal water circulation passages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose:<\/strong>\u00a0Extends roof service life; reduces thermal radiation impact on the operating environment; maintains structural rigidity and sealing integrity against high-temperature deformation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4. Electrode Holders and Sealing Rings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Operating temperature:<\/strong>\u00a0In close proximity to the electrodes, subject to extreme heat conduction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cooling method:<\/strong>\u00a0Water\u2011cooled design.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Electrode holders<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 ensures firm clamping and good electrical contact to prevent localized heating from excessive contact resistance.\u00a0<strong>Sealing rings<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 maintains seal between electrodes and roof, prevents air ingress into the furnace (which would affect steel quality) and prevents high\u2011temperature off\u2011gas leakage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5.
